Some photos I took over the last winter, spring, summer that I thought I would share.....new ones will come eventually I just procrastinate in editing.....
Just a smattering of some work...not all necessarily "art" but a few of the images I really liked. The first 3 are from a trip to Colorado to visit my best friend, Haley, who is pictured. The last 4 are of one of the girls I nannied for the past year.

those are some really cool and interesting effects in the last four photos, Lauren. Can you talk a little about the process? I know a bit about photography, but am not super well-versed.
ReplyDeletethe process is simply long exposure, so I hold the shutter open and count for a few seconds. These were all taken with a Holga camera on medium format film. I usually have my subject move a little, either naturally when they aren't aware, or purposely when they know I'm taking a photo. Mostly working with color film, scanning it and then playing in photoshop with color-balancing or gray-scaling if the colors are a little funky. You can do stuff like this, kinda, using a digital camera and long exposure but I've found the quality of film images to be much stronger. I could even create all of these effects in photoshop if I really wanted to but I enjoy being surprised when I get my film processed, and I would spend a lot more time in front of the computer if I was creating all of these effects digitally. My first inspiration for these "motion portraits" (as I call them) was an artist named Megan Marrin. A lot of her work look like ghostly portraits. here is some of here work: http://www.we-find-wildness.com/2009/01/megan-marrin/
